Tesamorelin (10 mg Vial) Dosage Protocol
Reconstitution and dosing guide for the 10 mg Tesamorelin vial — a GHRH analog researched for reducing visceral fat via natural growth-hormone release.
Quickstart Highlights
Tesamorelin is a stabilized analog of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It stimulates the pituitary to secrete growth hormone in a natural, pulsatile manner and is best known from research on reducing visceral (deep abdominal) adipose tissue. It is administered once daily by subcutaneous injection.
- Composition: 10 mg Tesamorelin per vial
- Reconstitute: Add 2.0 mL bacteriostatic water → 5 mg/mL concentration
- Easy measuring: At 5 mg/mL, 1 unit (0.01 mL) on a U-100 syringe = 50 mcg (so 2 mg = 40 units)
- Storage: Lyophilized: −20 °C (−4 °F); reconstituted: 2–8 °C (35.6–46.4 °F), protected from light, use within 2–4 weeks
Dosing & Reconstitution Guide
Once-daily subcutaneous protocol; the standard studied dose is 2 mg daily
Daily Subcutaneous Protocol (10 mg vial, 2 mL = 5 mg/mL)
| Protocol | Daily Dose | Units (U-100) | mL |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 2 mg (2,000 mcg) once daily | 40 units | 0.40 mL |
Administration: Inject 2 mg once daily subcutaneously, typically at night on an empty stomach. A 10 mg vial provides about 5 days at the standard dose.
Reconstitution Steps
- Allow the vial to reach room temperature (15–20 minutes out of cold storage).
- Draw 2.0 mL bacteriostatic water with a sterile syringe.
- Inject slowly down the vial wall to avoid foaming.
- Gently swirl or roll until fully dissolved (do not shake).
- Label with date and concentration; refrigerate at 2–8 °C, protected from light.
Result: 5 mg/mL concentration
How This Works
Tesamorelin binds GHRH receptors on the pituitary, increasing the amplitude of natural GH pulses and downstream IGF-1. Its modifications give it greater stability than native GHRH while preserving the body's pulsatile rhythm.
In clinical research it is most associated with reductions in visceral adipose tissue. The standard studied dose is 2 mg once daily.
Key Administration Notes
- Inject once daily, commonly at night, on an empty stomach.
- Rotate injection sites to prevent lipohypertrophy.
- Use new sterile insulin syringes; dispose in a sharps container.
- Document dose, timing, and site for consistency.
