GHRP-2 (5 mg Vial) Dosage Protocol
Reconstitution and dosing guide for the 5 mg GHRP-2 vial — a growth-hormone-releasing peptide (GH secretagogue) studied for stimulating endogenous growth hormone release.
Quickstart Highlights
GHRP-2 (Growth Hormone-Releasing Peptide-2) is a synthetic ghrelin-receptor (GHS-R1a) agonist that prompts the pituitary to release a pulse of growth hormone. It is commonly studied alongside a GHRH analog (such as CJC-1295) for a larger combined GH response. It mildly increases appetite and is administered subcutaneously.
- Composition: 5 mg GHRP-2 per vial
- Reconstitute: Add 2.0 mL bacteriostatic water → 2.5 mg/mL concentration
- Easy measuring: At 2.5 mg/mL, 1 unit (0.01 mL) on a U-100 syringe = 25 mcg
- Storage: Lyophilized: −20 °C (−4 °F); reconstituted: 2–8 °C (35.6–46.4 °F), protected from light, use within 2–4 weeks
Dosing & Reconstitution Guide
Subcutaneous protocol; the standard research dose is around 100 mcg per injection
Subcutaneous Protocol (5 mg vial, 2 mL = 2.5 mg/mL)
| Protocol | Per-dose | Frequency | Units (U-100) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 100 mcg | 1–3× daily | 4 units (0.04 mL) |
| Higher | 200 mcg | 1–3× daily | 8 units (0.08 mL) |
Administration: Inject subcutaneously on an empty stomach (avoid food, especially carbohydrates, for 30–60 minutes around dosing). Common timings are before bed and/or pre-workout. Doses are often capped near 100 mcg per injection, since higher amounts give diminishing GH returns.
Reconstitution Steps
- Allow the vial to reach room temperature (15–20 minutes out of cold storage).
- Draw 2.0 mL bacteriostatic water with a sterile syringe.
- Inject slowly down the vial wall to avoid foaming.
- Gently swirl or roll until fully dissolved (do not shake).
- Label with date and concentration; refrigerate at 2–8 °C, protected from light.
Result: 2.5 mg/mL concentration
How This Works
GHRP-2 binds the growth-hormone-secretagogue receptor (the ghrelin receptor) on the pituitary, triggering a pulse of growth-hormone release and partially suppressing somatostatin (the hormone that brakes GH).
Because it acts on a different pathway than GHRH analogs, GHRP-2 is frequently paired with a GHRH peptide for a synergistic release. It also has a mild appetite-stimulating effect through ghrelin signaling.
Key Administration Notes
- Dose on an empty stomach to avoid blunting the GH pulse.
- Rotate injection sites; use new sterile insulin syringes and a sharps container.
- Most protocols keep each dose near 100 mcg ('saturation' dose).
- Document dose, timing, and site for consistency.
