Administration: Oxytocin is potent and short-acting — keep doses in the low-microgram range and use the diluted preparation above. Intranasal application (measured drops divided between nostrils) is the most common research route. Do not confuse milligrams with micrograms when measuring.

Reconstitution Steps

  1. Allow the vial to reach room temperature (15–20 minutes out of cold storage).
  2. Draw 10.0 mL bacteriostatic water with a sterile syringe.
  3. Inject slowly down the vial wall to avoid foaming.
  4. Gently swirl or roll until fully dissolved (do not shake).
  5. Label with date and concentration; refrigerate at 2–8 °C, protected from light.
  6. Because of the large dilution volume, reconstitute into a sterile empty mixing vial rather than the original vial if needed.

Result: 1.0 mg/mL (1000 mcg/mL) concentration

How This Works
